Film: Rakth

Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Bipasha Basu, Dino Morea, Amrita Arora, Neha Dhupia, Himanshu Mallik, Rajat Bedi, Sharat Saxena and Payal Rastogi

Director: Mahesh Manjrekar

Cine Blitz Productions and Popcorn Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd are coming out with their movie Rakth, and the shooting for a song - O What A Babe was recently held at the pub Mikanos at Worli, Mumbai. The song was picturised on Sanjay Dutt, Yana Gupta and other dancers. Rakth, a supernatural thriller, boasts of several stars like Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Bipasha Basu, Dino Morea, Amrita Arora, Neha Dhupia, Himanshu Mallik, Rajat Bedi, Sharat Saxena and Payal Rastogi.

“The film is a murder mystery with a ‘whodunnit’ - feel throughout. I am playing the role of a school principal. It is a great film and I thoroughly enjoyed working in it. I am sure the audience will love the film,” says the film’s main actor Sanjay Dutt.

Suniel Shetty, who off late has turned producer, is producing Rakht. About Sanjay’s experience of working with Suniel as a producer he said, “Suniel is more like a brother to me. He is a very professional producer who knows his job well.”
Clarifying that Rakth is not inspired by any foreign film, director Mahesh Manjrekar says, “I feel that there is no point in making a film on a thought which is not yours. You can’t put your heart and soul into it.”

The song that was being picturised on Sanjay Dutt and the hot Yana Gupta, looked like another item number. On this Mahesh angrily commented, “I hate this term ‘item number’. In most of our films actresses are used mostly for a couple of songs and very few scenes. And suppose in a film some male actor performs a special song nobody calls it an item number. Here in this film we have a proper situation to this song. Sanjay Dutt runs in search of Amrita Arora and in the process reaches a bar where Yana Gupta sings this song Ye Ye Ye Mera Deewana .. Woh Woh Woh Mera Deewana..

Since Rakht is a supernatural thriller, will it have a lot of special effects?, “Yes! Rakht will have lots of special effects. And we will need at least three months for special effects,” says Mahesh. About not choosing Tabu for his film It was raining that day, a remake of Astitva, he had this to say - “Tabu has done a brilliant job in Astitva. Since the script is just the same, we had to do something different for It was raining that day. That’s why I needed someone with no hangover of Astitva. And believe me Sushmita Sen has done a tremendous job.”

Yana looked as dashing as ever. About this dance number in Rakht she said, “It feels great that people like watching me in songs like this. It is not that I am doing only item songs or something. This song in the film holds a story, a situation behind it and thus I am more than happy to do it. Also I am getting to shake a leg with the Hindi films’ most wanted actor Sanjay Dutt. This song has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and the C-21 - a Denmark group and is really picturised well.”
